TLE Area: Old Manuals

Group #5 – Life Labs 8, Quarter 3

Introduction

This webpage shows our Root Cause Analysis (RCA) about the problem of using old manuals in our TLE Industrial Arts class. Our group, Group 5, made this study to help solve the problems students and workers deal with when they have to follow outdated instructions. We used the "5 Whys" method to dig deep and find out the real reasons why these old papers are still being used. We focused on how old manuals can lead to big mistakes, like machines breaking down or using the wrong data for projects. To stop this from happening, we looked for the gaps in our system that allow this old info to stay around. Our project includes some solutions and steps we can take to update how we handle our documents. Finally, we came up with a plan to make sure everyone in the workshop only uses the newest and most accurate manuals from now on.

Main Problem

In Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) classes, many students still depend on very old instruction manuals and textbooks. This reliance is problematic because the information contained within these resources is often severely outdated. Consequently, students learn obsolete techniques that are no longer relevant in today's modern industries. This gap means the skills they acquire do not align with current job market requirements or best practices. Ultimately, depending on these outdated guides makes the TLE curriculum less effective and relevant for preparing students for the future.
